TOPPING OUT ON KAMAILE'UNU RIDGE . . .

Directly across Makaha Valley from the Towers is Kamaile'unu Ridge, a finger of the Waianae Mountains, which abuts Mt. Ka'ala, Oahu's highest peak. If you've ever wondered what the view is like from up there, this short video clip may help quench your curiosity. The approach taken for this excursion was from the Waianae Valley side of the ridge, but we still get plenty of aerial views into Makaha Valley.
As a bonus, at the end of the video is a short clip showing Kane'aki Heiau, an ancient site of Hawaiian devotion to the agricultural god Lono.
The Heiau, located on private property, suffered from vandalism a few years back and is not currently open to the public. Enjoy!
