HIKING ABOVE WAIANAE VALLEY . . .
Upcountry hikes on Oahu pose significant challenges as compared with similar activities on the mainland.
Often the trails are unimproved, the ridge tops are knife edged, and there's plenty of ankle-damaging root tangles and other obstacles.
But the views can be magnificent!
