MAKAHA MOUNTIANEERING . . .

For many of us, a day's adventure is driving down to the beach.

But a whole other world exists up above Makaha Valley, where hikers ascend sheer mountain walls in shorts and sneakers, in an audacious climb that, in other parts of the world, would require alpine gear and specialized apparel.
