HEALTH CHALLENGE LEADS WAIANAE MAN TO WATER . . .
For Waianae residents, Poka'i Bay has always been one of area's most beloved and often visited ocean recreation areas.
So, when George Kalilikane began experiencing some health challenges, it seemed natural to him to visit the bay to learn how to paddle board as part of a healing process.
Since the regimen worked so well for himself, the man who folks call Uncle George, began offering free weekly paddle-board lessons to anyone willing to learn, and hear his story of redemption.
A few years later, and Uncle George has become become as much of a Waianae institution as Poka'i Bay itself.
