LOOKING BACK ON BROTHER IZ . . .
Perhaps, of all the celebrities and people of note connected to Oahu's Waianae Coast, none was larger than life – and bigger in legend and remembrance – than Israel Kamakawiwoʻole.
Recently, Honolulu's television station KHNL put together a 30-minute retrospective of “Brother Iz's” life and times.
For those familiar with Kamakawiwoʻole, it's a “chicken skin” travel down memory lane.
For those who have yet to discover Iz's music and talent, it's a history lesson in a turning point regarding the revitalization of Hawaiian culture.
